Fundraising ideas using Amazon.com

Note:  Not all the fundraising ideas will suit every site!  So browse all the fund raising ideas, be creative, and choose the fundraiser that will work best for your site.

Amazon will pay you 5% on all purchases made by customers who linked to the Amazon site through your site!  Even better, if you link a specific book title they will pay you 15% of the purchase price!

How to do this: 

The first thing you must do is go to www.amazon.com and find the link to their associate programs (usually it is the small links on the bottom of the page) and sign up!  

In the Associate's Members Only site they will have detailed information as to how to get the links.  (please do not ask me these questions, I get my husband to do it so I am clueless!).

You can just put a link on your website to Amazon and get 5% of all purchases.  You would do better if you encourage your members to only shop at Amazon through your link.  Occasionally, you can email everyone the link  to remind them. 

A better way is to come up with a list of books that you recommend.  They could be books pertaining to your cause, or if you are a school you can recommend great titles for young readers and so forth.  

Using  associatesshop.com you can open a personalized Amazon shop in a few minutes.  The program is FREE to open, the only catch is that the owners will take about 20% of your profits.  But I think that potentially with such a shop you can earn more money and it is much easier then building your own shop.  Here is a shop I set up for fundraisingmom.  Here is a nonprofit shop using this software.

How about if you send out a flyer to the families asking them what are their most favorite pregnancy books, children books, romances, mysteries and the like.  Then have a link to each of the top 3 books in each category on your site.  As a parent I'm always looking for books that other parents recommend so a list like this would definitely be of interest to me and many other parents.
